Andrea Blythe's blog about writing, reading, and everything else

"i do it for the joy it brings,
because i am a joyful girl,
because the world owes me nothing
and we owe each other the world.
i do it because it's the least i can do.
i do it because i learned it from you.
i do it just because i want to,
because i want to."
---Ani Difranco, "Joyful Girl."

My name, Andrea Blythe, means "Joyful Girl" (more or less), and that's what I am, a joyful girl. I'm an assistant editor at a technical trade magazine, called Light Metal Age. In my spare time I write a little of this, a little of that. I've tried my hand at novels, short stories, poetry, screenplays, and some nonfiction. Some of my poetry has been published in various tiny lit journals online and otherwise, such as Perigee, Strange Horizons, Ascent Aspirations, Bear Creek Haiku and Chinquapin.

I love ice cream, the sound of snow crunching under my feet, reading a good book on a rainy day, and the clean happy feeling after a good workout. I also enjoy playing with artforms (like sketching and collage) and making vlogs. I travel whenever I get a chance. Big trips can be hard right now due to my work schedule, but I'm hoping to do more plan more weekend and day trips. After all, there's a lot that can be discovered right here in California.

On Friending
-- I tend to stick to a readable number of blogs, so feel free to add or delete me from your friendlist as you please. I will do the same. I rarely (as in almost never) create any "friends only" posts so you don't need to be worried on that count.
-- Also, if you friend me, I promise to come by your LJ from time to time and see what you are up to.
