Does anyone else think that there should be an option on LJ to disable anonymous comments, but allow OpenID?
If so, consider going over to this thread (created by ) to comment and suggest how you would like to see it implemented. Who knows, if enough people want this, LJ may make the feature available.

Here is a news item on an official news release from LIveJournal.
This article makes it sound like less of a LiveJournal doomsday.
"LiveJournal Inc.'s headquarters, technical operations (and servers), legal, administration, and the customer service teams will remain in the United States," the release explained. "LiveJournal's global product development and design will now be coordinated out of its Moscow office. The pooling of resources between the U.S. and Russia will allow the company to build a stronger business model, well positioned to guarantee the long-term success of LiveJournal."

Thank you to
wordweaverlynn for her post about the possibility of livejournal winding down. As she said, there's no need to panic as of yet, if the site is going to close it will take a few years to happen.
I can't help about thinking of beginning the switch to another blog network, though. I've been thinking about creating another blog for a while now. I like livejournal for the ability to connect with other users on it, and I do have a lot of pictures set up in the scrapbook section. But there are a lot of quirks, too, such as the difficulty of searching through someone's journal for a specific post. Livejournal now has the ability to do RSS feeds easily, which is a plus.
The fact is that I have been posting to this blog for so long, that it will be a monumental task to go through all my old posts and save those that I consider valuable, which is why I'm thinking of starting sooner rather than later. I'm not panicking perse, just thinking ahead. And really I'm still not sure what I want to do in the long run. Ikes.
ETA: You know, for a long time I wasn't keeping up with livejournal. I wasn't reading friend's posts, and only rarely posting. I'm just glad I started getting back into this, because otherwise all this would have been going on, and I wouldn't have had a clue.
